Obituary for Phillip Ralph Nunley Sr.

Phillip Nunley, Sr., 80, of Rush passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. He was born October 16, 1940 in Grayson; a son of the late Hartford and Nancy “Nannie” Margaret Brown Nunley.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five sisters, Geneva Deal, Virginia Halterman, Beverly Messmer, Bonita “JoAnn” Morrison, and Doris Barr; four brothers, Fred Nunley, Albert “June” Nunley, James Nunley, and Donald Nunley.

He was a self- employed mechanic and had a radio ministry “Sound of the Trumpet”. He was a minister of the Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia Anderson Nunley; three sons, Phillip, Jr. (Jamie) Nunley, Joseph (Trish) Nunley, and David Nunley all of Grayson; four daughters, Nancy (John) Hawse, Lydia Pennington, Tiffany (Cody) Adkins all of Rush and Joretta Wilson of Frankfort, KY; a sister, Evelyn Warden of Springfield, OH; twenty grandchildren and four great -grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home, Larry Nunley and Daniel Hamilton, ministers. Burial will follow in the Cribbs Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Due to the COVID pandemic, face coverings are required and social distancing will be observed.
