Obituary for Ruth Corley

Jewell 'Ruth' Corley, 94, of Grayson, born July 23, 1927, to the late Scott Roberts and Dorsey “Doris” Suttles Roberts, passed peacefully Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Ruth was a factory worker in Chicago, making copper coils for cars in the 1950s before later becoming a dietary manager for more than 20 years at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Ruth loved spending time with her family and enjoyed country and bluegrass music. She adored her dogs over the years (especially “Bogie”) and traveling, particularly to Panama City Beach, Florida. She was also known for her brilliant sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wade Lewis Duncan, and her second husband, Leonard 'Corky' Corley, five brothers – Everett Roberts, Vernon Ray Roberts, Paul Thomas Roberts, Marvin Lee Roberts and Scotty Gene Roberts – and three sisters – Anna Delores Underwood, Mabel Rose Whitt and Mamie Louise Green.

The family would like to extend great appreciation to Community Hospice for taking such good care of Ruth. Special thanks to Tammy, Linda, and Jamie for their loving home health care.

Visitation will be held on Monday at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson with 5-6 p.m being for family and 6-8 p.m. for the public; services on Tuesday will be held at 1 p.m with Minister Kevin Shearer officiating. Internent will be the Hillcrest Cemetery.
