James T. "Denny" Woods
1946-2022
James Woods, 76, of Grayson, KY peacefully passed this life on December 4, 2022, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born April 9, 1946, in California a son of the late Ray and Kathryn Boutwell Woods.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike Woods, and Donnie Woods; a sister, Ruth Clark; a nephew, Jerry Genung.
Jim was a musician by trade and was the first drummer for the bluegrass musician J.D Crowe. He was an accomplished bench jeweler for many years, at Ohio Valley Jewelry, eventually having his own jewelry store.
Some say he was a dreamer, but for real he loved his family with all his heart.
Jim is survived by three sons, William (Sarah) Woods of South Dakota; Mike Woods of Colorado; and Eric (Jessica Cummings) Woods of Worthington, KY; a daughter, Buffy Lawson (Jim Hatmaker) of Lexington, KY; a sister, Lynne (Bob) Genung of Grayson, KY; two granddaughters, Seanna Woods of South Dakota and Ellie Woods of Colorado who were the light of his life; two special grandsons, Stephen and Ethan Hatmaker; a nephew, Dylan Genung.
Graveside service will be Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 12 noon at the Kehoe Cemetery.
