James Leonard "Red" Blevins
1934-2022
James Blevins, 87, of Ashland, KY passed away Monday, February 21, 2022, at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY. He was born March 1, 1934, in Ashland a son of the late Tivis and Allie Justice Blevins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Harlan Blevins; a daughter-in-law, Coleen Blevins; five sisters and three brothers.
He was of the Baptist faith, a Kentucky Colonel, and had worked many years as an Operator in the Basic Oxygen Department of AK Steel in Ashland. He loved the outdoors especially camping with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Kouns Blevins; two sons, Dwight Blevins of Grayson, and Gregory Blevins of Ashland; a daughter, Linda (Marc) Chatfield of Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Blevins of Ashland; seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 25, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, James Smedley, minister. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday, February 25, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
