Obituary for Helen Sue Rice
Helen Sue Rice, 86, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born September 11, 1936 in Rush, KY to the late Lige Lemaster and Dorothy E. Burton Lemaster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald B. Lemaster; a sister, Mona G. Davis.
Sue was an active member of the Barretts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, as a Sunday school teacher and VBS teacher. She was a customer service representative for the Commercial Bank and later at Ferrell Gas in Grayson. She was a 1954 graduate of Prichard High School.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Orville Kenneth Rice; a daughter, Diana Rice (Mike) Drawbaugh of Versailles, KY; two sons, Jeffrey K. (LaRaine) Rice of Lexington, KY; and Daniel L. Rice of Worthington, KY; a sister-in-law, Evelyn (Bob) Holbrook of Lexington, KY; five grandchildren, Audra (Tim) Jackson, Paige Rice, Pierce Rice, Christopher Rice, and Elizabeth Rice; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Lacey Jackson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11:00 a. m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, Kevin Meenach, and Daniel Crump, ministers. Burial will follow in the Cribbs Hill Cemetery in Grayson. Pallbearers will be members of the Barretts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Bill Lewis, Gene Redecker, Greg Robinson, Brad Humphries, Justin Suttles, and Mark Wilson.
Visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
