Obituary for Anna Lois Callihan Lewis Dale

Anna Lois Callihan Lewis Dale, 92, Grayson, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her residence.

Anna Lois, or “Sugar” as she was sometimes called, was born May 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Ollen Dickie Callihan (Ollie), and Letha Inez Stamper (Inez).

She is preceded in death by her first husband, William W. Lewis, and second husband, John R. Dale; a brother, Phillip Douglas (Doug) Callihan; a sister, Sandra Lee (Sandy) Callihan Standfield, and both parents.

Anna Lois attended nurse’s training in Louisville, eventually coming home and working at the old Stovall Hospital in Grayson. She also served as a nurse for Dr. William Schnitzker, a pediatrician in Ashland, KY, however she is best known for her many years of service as a nurse with the Carter County Health Department, from where she retired. She was also an active member of the Barretts Creek Missonary Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Charles O. Lewis (Bertha Lewis) of Houston TX, and William P. Lewis (Andrea Lewis) of Grayson; a grandson, William Andrew (Andy) Lewis (Michael Lewis) of Washington D.C.; three granddaughters, Elizabeth W. Kucko (Kavan Kucko) of Chicago IL, Brittany G. Bond (Adam Bond), and Meredith R. Bond (Drew Bond) both of Grayson, a brother-in-law, Tom Standfield of Ramer TN; a niece and nephew, Leah Charlton (Tim Charlton), and Bryce Standfield (Rhonda Standfield) both of Murphysboro, TN; five great-grandchildren, Poppy and William (Pierce) Bond of Grayson, and Charles (Charlie) and Lewis (Lewie) Kucko of Chicago, IL, Poppy Nora Bond of Hitchins, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, KY by Rev. Tom Swartzwelder. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Sparks Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
