Sherman Sparks, 76, of Grayson passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY.
He was born May 13, 1942 in Lawton, KY to the late Sherman and Odell Cline Sparks.
He was a retired from the United States Army proudly serving his country for more than 20 years. He had also been the Animal Control Officer in Carter County.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Kelley; three brothers, William Oscar Sparks, Victor Woodson Sparks, and Arthur Ray Oney.
He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Bowser Sparks; three sons, William Jeffery (Christy) Sparks of Grayson, Sherman Richard (Danielle) Sparks of Grayson, and Eli Runyon Sparks at home; three daughters, Teresa (Patrick) Tolliver, of Hitchins, Kelly (Melvin) Howard of Grayson, and Bertha (Stacy) Fyffe of Grayson; a brother, Roger Oney of Grayson; a sister, Alline Tackett of Pleasant City, OH; twenty grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson, KY, Amy Walters, officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Cemetery Northeast with Military honors provided by American Legion Post #93, Kenova, WV.
Visitation will be Monday, October 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home.
